Monarch Precious Metals is not a Gold IRA company. It does not offer custodian partnerships, depository storage, IRA-eligible products, or rollover assistance. If you came here looking for a precious metals IRA, skip to the Noble Gold CTA below and start there instead.
What Monarch is: a family-owned mint and bullion manufacturer based in Medford, Oregon, operating since 2008. The company has its own in-house refinery, which means products go directly from production to buyer without a middleman. It started as a coin shop called Oregon Coin and Jewelry, pivoted to minting its own bullion when procuring products from other suppliers proved difficult, moved to a larger warehouse in Phoenix, Oregon, then relocated to Medford in 2011. Seventeen years later, it runs one of the more creative precious metals catalogs in the country: Egyptian series, Viking series, Dr. Seuss coins, poker chips, silver skulls, tombstone bars, silver building blocks, zodiac rounds, copper dominoes, and subscription programs. This is for collectors and stackers. Not for retirement investors.

Monarch Precious Metals at a Glance
The business model itself is the distinguishing factor. Monarch has its own refinery. Most dealers in precious metals get products from government mints and refiners, add their margin, and resell them. Monarch produces its own. The metal is refined worldwide, but everything else is done in Medford – designing, casting, and finishing. Products are poured and stamped by hand – this is precisely why they are collectors’ items. A Monarch silver skull or Egyptian bars are not minted by the U.S. Mint.
The range of items has increased significantly since the company’s inception. Subscription services are a relatively recent development that many collectors enjoy – you choose a product, set an interval, and receive shipments automatically. It is quite unique to this market and is well suited for stacking.
Premiums for investment purposes: Monarch’s products are collector premiums, not investment premiums. You pay for original design and craftsmanship, not metal alone. If you are seeking minimal premiums above spot for bullion, Monarch is not your best option. If you would like to add a silver tombstone bar to your collection or a zodiac round as a gift, you pay for the design, and many customers consider it worth the price.
Pros & Cons
Pricing
The prices of Monarch take into consideration the collectibility of its products. Items that are custom made, hand poured, or hand stamped will have additional costs above the normal investment bullion prices. Wire transfers and ACH payment methods will be cheaper compared to credit and debit cards payments. Bulk purchase discounts do not apply to all items but please visit our website for the latest prices on standard rounds and bars.
If maximizing the amount of silver or gold per dollar spent is the objective then standard bullion from a large volume dealer will offer better pricing. However, if the intention is to buy unique handmade items then the prices will reflect the value received.
Company Background
The Monarch Precious Metals Company was founded in 2008 in the midst of the global economic recession. At that time, there was a high demand for gold and silver products, and the previous coin business of the founders, Oregon Coin and Jewelry, was struggling to find suppliers of their products. In order not to have to fight for a supply, the owners decided to make their own. Initially, the company worked out of a small warehouse in Phoenix, Oregon, where the first 1/10 oz silver rounds and molds for hand-poured bars were manufactured.
In 2011, the company moved to a bigger factory located in Medford, Oregon, which currently houses the company. The Medford factory also features the company’s refinery, which is open to the public. This transparency regarding manufacturing processes, which allows clients to see the whole process of making metals, is a unique characteristic of the company.

Monarch Precious Metals is a real company with a real refinery, a 17-year operating record, and a catalog of handcrafted products that no government mint produces. For collectors, stackers, and gift buyers, that is the appeal.
For retirement investors, this review is a dead end. Monarch does not offer IRA services, IRA-eligible products, or any of the custodian and depository infrastructure that a precious metals IRA requires.
