Lexi Capital ranks as one of the top precious metals IRA companies in America today. The company offers fair pricing on annual fees, and makes it really easy for precious metals to be delivered directly to customers. They also have a really kind return policy.
While Lexi Capital does have positive reviews on many customer review platforms, there are very few of them and there is also very little information about the executive team of the company. That’s why it’s important to read this review at Sophisticated Investor, as we’ve taken the liberty of finding all the information available out there and putting it all in one place.
Pros:
- Six-month price buyback program
- Free shipping on first orders
- $1,000 new account bonus
Cons:
- Company is new to gold IRAs
Lexi Capital is in the business of serving precious metals IRA clients with gold, silver, platinum and palladium offerings that come in the form of bars, coins and rounds.
As you work your way through this review, you’ll notice there isn’t a lot to say about the executive team and managers of the company because most of them are listed online information about them is not available on the company website.
The same can be said for customer reviews on various platforms. Lexi Capital scores well on multiple websites, but there just aren’t very many reviews. So as far as online credibility goes, there’s a lot of room for improvement.
Still, the fee structure at Lexi Capital is very competitive, the reviews at the end of the day are still positive, and the company has been in business since 2010. That’s long enough to carve out a place in the industry and garner the respect of investors.
It’s time to learn all about Lexi Capital and see why we still rank it among some of our top IRA providers.
The Founder and Management Team at Lexi Capital
Unlike other IRA precious metals companies, Lexi Capital doesn’t actually feature that much information about its employees are C-level executives on its website nor on websites like LinkedIn. After conducting thorough research and trying to find any of the top level employees we could, research revealed Operations Manager Jessica Segura as one of the few publicly listed employees of Lexi Capital.
Segura has been with the company since February 2020 and possesses several years of experience in operations management at multiple companies both in the investing niche and in the world of architecture.
Alongside Segura in our Linkedin search is Account Executive Steve Kennedy. Kennedy lists nearly 8 years of experience Lexi Capital on his resume. He previously worked at the Bank of America in asset management.
Lexi Capital Pricing and Fees
One of the best parts of choosing to own precious metals within an IRA account is that a lot of the fee structure is present within that particular segment of the industry are pretty straightforward. Lexi Capital is no exception to the rule.
The initial setup fee is just $80 and the annual administrative fees are just $95. Annual storage fees come out to just $100. That means for a new customer doing business with Lexi Capital for one year, it costs only $275 total to get set up and get through the first 12 months. The simple chart below summarizes everything for you visually:
Type of Fee | Fee Amount |
---|---|
Set-up fee | $85 |
Annual Fee | $95 |
Storage fee | $100 |
Lexi Capital Storage Information
Lexi Capital does deliver precious metals directly to customer’s doors, so clients do have the option of storing those metals at home. Apart from that Lexi Capital does have its a preferred storage provider.
That storage provider is Delaware Depository. The company’s storage facility is located in Wilmington, Delaware. Lexi Capital is one of several providers using Delaware Depository to store the precious metals of investors. It’s very common practice for that to happen in the precious metals IRA industry because the state of Delaware offers both investors and companies more favorable business and tax laws.
Self-Directed IRA Services Inc. acts as the company’s chief custodian. Customers do have the option to choose their own storage provider, but Delaware depository is one of the bigger and most respected names in the industry.
Lexi Capital Customer Reviews
TrustLink reviewers rate Lexi Capital a five out of five stars. It’s an impressive rating that few companies share, but it should be noted that rating is only based on three reviews. Competitors like Advantage Gold, and American Bullion don’t necessarily read a perfect five out of five across all review websites, but they all boast significantly higher numbers of reviews by comparison.
A similar challenge affects the company when looking at ratings on the website Business Consumer Alliance. The company has a AAA rating at BCA but there are no written customer reviews on the website. The AAA rating is reflective of the fact that there is proof the business actually exists, that it’s properly licensed and that all of those points of credibility are officially recognized by the BCA.
The same thing holds true with regard to the company’s profile with the Better Business Bureau. Lexi Capital has been in business long enough to earn a good reputation on the website, plus all of the information listed about the company is correct. There are no complaints on the Better Business Bureau profile which is great, but there are also no written reviews or ratings from customers directly.
Overall, the conclusion here is that Lexi Capital rates well on at least one website, but the company could do a better job of collecting testimonials and reviews from clients in order to establish a more clearly defined online reputation.
Lexi Capital’s List of Assets
Lexi Capital doesn’t offer cryptocurrency, stocks, bonds or mutual funds within its IRA accounts. The company only specializes in precious metals. Those precious metals include gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Those are simply the four main metals that most companies offer.
Each of those metals is available in bars, coins and rounds. What’s cool about Lexi Capital’s list of assets is that these assets can be delivered to your door. Not everybody offers that. Apart from that, the metals themselves come in pretty standard formats as is usually the case with most IRA providers.
Lexi Capital: Frequently Asked Questions
A comprehensive review of Lexi Capital wouldn’t be complete without us answering some of the most frequently asked questions investors have about the organization. Learn more about Lexi Capital below and see if some of your burning questions are addressed. Hopefully the content above and the answers below to be more than enough to get you excited about calling the company and looking into opening an account to purchase your first precious metals!
What is Lexi Capital?
Lexi Capital was founded in 2010. It’s a precious metals investing company dedicated to helping clients retire early. Lexi Capital is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Can I Store Lexi Capital Products at Home?
Lexi Capital not only delivers precious metals directly to clients, they offer free shipping to new customers. That’s a great added bonus that other precious metals IRA competitors don’t offer.
Can I Cancel an Order?
Lexi Capital charges a $45 cancellation fee and clients wishing to cancel an order must meet the requirements set out by the company’s order cancellation guidelines.
Can I Return Precious Metals to the Company?
Lexi Capital sends all of its precious metals using tracking numbers. As soon as delivery is accepted by a customer, they have only three days to send it back should they wish to do so.
Are Lexi Capital Coins Graded and Certified?
Like other precious metals IRA companies, Lexi Capital ensures that the precious metals products offered by the organizations are properly graded and certified.
What is Lexi Capital’s Minimum Investment Amount?
Lexi Capital’s minimum order requirement for precious metals is $1,500 USD just to get started. That’s a lower minimum requirement that all of the other precious metals IRA companies reviewed here at Sophisticated Investor.
Can I Set Up an LLC With Lexi Capital?
Setting up LLCs through self-directed IRA investment is common practice with many self-directed providers across the United States. Most precious metals IRA companies however don’t actively engage in this practice. Registering an LLC for retirement investing is something that the IRS frowns upon, though it’s not illegal. So people do it, but if you choose to do it yourself, you are entering a bit of a grey area. Lexi Capital is able to offer this in a round-about way through its self-directed custodian, Self-directed IRA Services Inc. but it’s not something actively promoted on the company’s website.
Verdict: Is Lexi Capital the Right Precious Metals IRA Company for you?
Make no mistake about it, Lexi Capital certainly ranks among the top precious metals IRA companies in America. That being said, our review has to stop well short of giving the company the number one spot.
A big part of our reasoning for that is simply the fact that the company’s online reputation leaves much to be desired. Most of the reviews are glowingly positive, so that’s a good thing it’s just that there aren’t that many of them. To see that Lexi Capital doesn’t really have a presence at the Better Business Bureau besides its basic profile doesn’t exactly fall in line with other competitors who offer much more robust reviews at the BBB and other review platforms.
As far as customer service and support goes, one thing we do like is the fact that the company offers an extensive frequently asked questions section on its website that answers specific inquiries related to the gold and silver products themselves and details all of the information customers need to know about shipping and returns. Those are all positives.
Overall, the fact that the average consumer won’t get to know a lot about the executive team or what other people think about Lexi Capital is probably the key take away that makes it difficult to rate Lexi Capital in the top three among other IRA providers like Goldco for example, whose online reputations and detailed company information is much more robust.
Investors shouldn’t ignore what Lexi Capital has to offer. It’s still a leading company in America and still has a proven track record, as much as the number of reviews available online are limited.
We encourage you to take a look at other precious metals IRA providers, but at least now you can consider Lexi Capital after doing all of your research.
